Solstice Retreat

A FULL DAY OF BREATHING MEDITATION AND SILENCE DURING THE SOLSTICE OF JUNE 21 (ONLINE)

Disclaimer: Due to the nature of the program and the number of hours of silence and meditation, this retreat is only for emotionally stable individuals. It is not a therapeutic event and does not replace psychological or psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, or clinical treatment.

The solstice occurs on Sunday, June 21st: the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere (the longest day, meaning the most hours of sunlight in the year); and the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere (the shortest day, meaning the fewest hours of sunlight in the year).

This officially marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

For centuries, solstices have been especially significant moments for various cultures: the Maya, Inca, Egyptian, Greek, and Vedic India all recognized these days as an opportunity to align themselves with these greater rhythms, understanding that the body and mind also respond to this order.

Personally, I find in breathing a direct way to enter that harmony, to turn inward while the planet continues its course, and that is why I want to open a space to share a full day of breathing, somatic and meditative practice, as a way to consciously inhabit this moment.

There were solstices before there were people in the world. All our other holidays don't fit that definition, since they were invented.

Classical philosophers and meditators viewed the solstices as a reminder of the natural order and the eternal cycle of light and darkness. Therefore, they symbolise the death (winter) and rebirth (summer) of light, reflecting inner balance.

THE PRACTICES

The idea is to dedicate a good part of the day to breathing meditation in a still, breathing-focused way, as well as somatic practices using the beautiful tool of the body.

At the end, you'll gain a very simple yet profoundly transformative practice method if you commit to it regularly.

If you do so, over time meditation will help you build a more stable way of being in life, a foundation from which to navigate challenges with greater clarity and balance.

SILENCE

The invitation is to experience that day in silence, wherever you are, creating a space where you can inhabit yourself without external interruptions: remain silent, without eye contact, without reading, without your phone, without music, without writing...

...it's incredible how our senses are sharpened when we allow total silence to penetrate that little-explored inner territory; how boredom goes from being something we avoid, to a gateway to a more direct perception in which the body and breathing are the protagonists. (In fact, as an anecdotal detail, the previous image of the hand and the worm was taken at a silent retreat).

To achieve this, it will be crucial to prepare in advance: organize your meals, your meditation space, and let those you live with know that you will be dedicating the entire day to the practice, so that the environment can support this process without interruption.
